It is Joe Pollard that made it a hit ,from Disco to Rap i In the early 70's he had Syndrums on most all the big recording hits... His unit was the best out there .They still use Syndrums today in recordings ...! Where would music be with out him.....?..

I'll try to help you out.

As i see it.. The first electric drum set was names the Pollard Syndrum. I was made by Mark Barton at Tycobrahe Sound Company in Hermosa Beach, California, through the idea of an electric drum by Joe Pollard. He argued that Guitars had effects and pianos had synthesizers. He wanted to bring the drums into the Electronic Era. There were 3 major types: The Syndrum 1, the Syndrum TwinDrum, and the Syndrum Quad. The syndrum quad was the most famous. They were never meant to replace the original drum set, just enhance it. Pretty soon, other companies started to used the Syndrum's original design to make copy-products of their own.

in the late 70's early 80's. I remember Bill Bruford of Yes was using them back in the day.
