I think you should use somebody else's drum kit and figure out whether you like it first if you have any doubts. I think the Yamahas and Rolands are the best electronic kits, there are really cheap ones but I would avoid them like the plague. Also a heads up, some electronic kits don't come with a kick pedal, you have to buy it yourself. I bought a Yamaha DTXpress 3 about 4 years back and it’s still great, quite expensive but does come with a warranty.
