What is the best electronic drum kit i can buy as a beginner on a budget?

I really want to learn how to play the drums but i don't want to spend too much just in case this is just a phase! I wonder if there are add-ons you could buy to add to kits the more advanced you get? I want really accurate sounds, have read some reviews about pedals going off on their own.
I bought a Yamaha DTXpress 3 about 4 years back and it’s still great, quite expensive but does come with a warranty.
I think you should use somebody else’s drum kit and figure out whether you like it first if you have any doubts. I think the Yamahas and Rolands are the best electronic kits, there are really cheap ones but I would avoid them like the plague.
Also a heads up, some electronic kits don’t come with a kick pedal, you have to buy it yourself.
