Stopping vibrations (false triggers) with electronic drums?
| By admin | Category: EdrumBlogoms asked:
I am currently using a Yamaha Dtxpress electronic drum set. Sometimes, when I hit certain pads, the set will actually think I'm hitting a cymbal or some other pad that I didn't even touch. I know these false hits are occuring because of the vibrations that travel through the drum rack. My question is: is there something I can do to the rack to stop these vibrations? Maybe wrap something around the rack?? Thanks for ANY info!

No offense, but you’re probably better off taking this question to a drumming forum or something.
You’ll definitely get a more knowledgeable answer if you ask drummers and people who know music gear.
Or, you could try looking the product up on Musicians Friend or just online to see if anyone else has encountered the problem and lists a possible sollution.
can you change the velocity or sensitivity on your drum module ?
try loosening off the clamps on the rack and putting a layer of thin foam (or carpet) around the rack – between the clamp and the rack. It should absorb a bit of the shock. I’d also check the angle that you have them mounted. If you are hitting a drum on a wierd angle, it could send extra vibrations through the rack.
