Noise (Electronic drums) in Apartment?

I am considering moving to an apartment. I have electronic. I am concerned about the the going through the floor if I am on the second floor. Does anybody have any experiences with this

  1. Your electronic drums per se would not generate a high volume of noise if it is not connected to the amplifier. You can plug in a headset while practicing. But noise is noise whether you are striking your drum pads or telephone books. The only question is that how loud of a noise that your neighbour is able to tolerate, that all.

  2. I live on the 2nd floor of an apt.. I made a “floating Platform” for my set. Its basically a 5×5 piece of plywood on top of several 4″ x 4″ strips of High Density foam. the strips are 4″s apart from each other. Works pretty well. I put a carpet on top of the wood to make it look nice too. The only compaint i had was when I played at 8 in the morning once…
