How loud are the pads on an electronic drum kit?

I was on YouTube and was watching this video of this guy playing his electronic drum kit without the drum sounds, and they were rather loud. I'm looking into buying an electronic drum kit because I live in an apartment and my neighbors have the biggest ears in the world and complain about everything. But after observing this video, it seems like they are still rather loud. Are they loud?

depends on what you get. rolands have mesh heads and are pretty quiet.
No, they are not loud. I have a set. You are talking about the kind that does not look like the top half of a real drum right? The ones that look like the top portion of real acoustic drums are not really electronic drums but they use a trigger system that attaches to the drum head/skin. That type is loud because they have heads and shells just like real drums. The rubber type pads which are more common don’t make much sound. You can get an idea of what they sound like by hitting your drumsticks on some hardcover books. Thats about the same volume as the rubber type pads.
