Roger is absolutely correct...they dont have the same "feel" a real Acoustic drum kit has. There is one other option you can do if you dont want to buy an Electrono drum kit...you can buy an acoustic drum kit and put "DRUM SILENCER PADS" like one from Vic Firth on your Drums & cymbals...that will help with the noise problems and problems with the neighbors. Because it muffles your drums completely so you can play drums and your neigbors can still keep their hearing.

I was lucky in the 1980s, there a was small back room behind the garage where I played drums. There was no way I could play in the house in my room. I didnt have any electronic kits or drum silencer pads. My parents couldnt hear it from the house, but my neighbors could hear it from upstairs...

you can find the Drum Silencer Pads here by Vic Firth

Yes you can, but plan on spending big bucks for a professional level set. Forget about the cheap ones.
It is easier to tote electronic equipment, but I have found few drummers who will use only electronic drums. They like to have both.

I'm a drummer myself and i can tell you the electronic kits dont give you the same tone or feel as a proper kit.if you are worried about making noise you can buy rubber pads that fit on top of your drums.hope that helps.
